| Port and Starboard |
[Jul. 31st, 2009|07:16 am] |
I have thought that it's odd that my wife gets left and right mixed up - until I realized I do the exact same thing with port and starboard.
So what's the difference between her and me? |

| My Membership number |
[Jun. 19th, 2008|07:40 am] |
I realized that I won't have one book by the time I need to vote on the Hugos - so I wanted to read it on line. Apparently in order for me to read it on line, I have to supply my membership number.
So I asked my wife if she knew my membership number - she paid for our memberships back when. She has no idea.
How do I find out my membership number? |

| Heinlen & Mat Damon |
[Mar. 18th, 2008|02:03 pm] |
Last month you posted a link to a song that was played on TV about which a singer sang to her boy friend about what she was doing with Matt Damon.
I wanted to add a note, but I'm not finding it.
Remember in Heinlein's Door Into Summer where Daniel Boone Davis told the reader how "kink" was not a bad word back when he came from? It was an effective guess then. But we are now at that time, and, as you said - nobody expected what really happened.
The Religious Right sometimes makes Vulgar language into a religious issue - but it isn't. It's always been a class issue. Using the proper language to say "poop" isn't something that an all-knowing being cares about.
When the elite class use explicit language, or wear blue jeans - it stops being vulgar. And that is happening. |
